Water Corp - Tax Payer Funded "FOREVER"

In recent times the WA Water Corporation has received much criticism for not only the way it manages our catchments, water pipe network and water storage facilities but in particular for the management of the Perth Seawater Desalination plant located in Kwinana. Depleted oxygen levels within Cockburn sound and the ongoing WA Gas Crisis has resulted in unplanned plant shutdowns and highlighted claims made by the Water Corporation and the WA Labor Government that the desalination plant's 100% renewable energy power source is false. This resulted in the Water Corporation receiving a formal reprimand from the Australian Crime and Corruption Commission for misleading the public when it proclaimed that the desalination plant was powered by renewable energy from the Emu Downs wind farm.

The Save Logue Brook Dam Action Group is constantly querying the Minister for Water Resources John Kobelke on his decision to allow Water Corporation and its motives for taking Logue Brook Dam away from the public for the sake of 5-7 days of water annually in light of the new Southern Seawater Desalination Plant being constructed at nearby Binningup which will have an annual capacity of 100 gigalitres. Within correspondance received from the Minister he has stated that the Binningup desalination plant will also be exclusively powered by renewable energy see Agritech Query - Kobelke Responce and that the low oxygen levels within Cockburn Sound is "naturally" occurring, and not caused by the desalination plant. see P.Lyon Correspondance 21,28May2008 - Kobelke Responce

The SLBDAG question the validity of these claims in light of the Water Corporation's formal reprimand received from the ACCC. We therefore aim to post any relevant information disproving Water Corporation claims and highlight their inefficiencies and water wasting practices.
